Role Purpose:

As a DevOps Engineer, you will play a critical role in the automation of release cycles, advising on the most efficient and cost-effective infrastructure solutions for application hosting requirements and ensuring the applications are reliable, scalable, and stable. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that future releases will be scalable and sustainable. You will be on call to support SREs and Operations with infrastructure incidents. You will implement monitoring and alerting on potential points of failure on the hosting infrastructure and implement preventative measures where possible.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Matric
  • Degree / Diploma / Certificate in Computer Science or related field.

Minimum Experience

  • 6+ years as a DevOps Engineer or SRE.
  • Containerisation with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience in system integration with 3rd-party systems.
  • Managing Web services.
  • Elasticsearch / Similar.
  • Datadog / Similar.
  • Managing and monitoring applications on Cloudflare/similar.
  • Experience in infrastructure and tools cost management and getting rid of unnecessary expenses.

Required Skills:

  • Advanced knowledge of the following tools and technologies:
  • Azure DevOps, incl. creating and maintaining Build and Release Pipelines.
  • Containerisation with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Elasticsearch / Similar.
  • Datadog / Similar.
  • IIS.
  • Azure and/or AWS.

Advantageous Skills and Experience:

  • Building and maintaining microservices.
  • Managing the infrastructure, scalability, and monitoring of a micro-services architecture.
  • Real-time transaction system support.
  • Scalable system support to ensure efficient processing of high load.
  • Gaming and/or betting industry experience.
  • Networking or IT support experience.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Be on-call to support SRE with incident response.
  • Continuously automate common tasks.
  • Monitoring and alerting:
    • assist the development team with implementing meaningful monitoring and alerting.
    • actively monitor the infrastructure and network traffic.
    • actively monitor security threats and assist with mitigation efforts.
    • actively monitor infrastructure costs and implement alerts where possible.
    • actively monitor the IIS logs.
  • Azure / Azure DevOps management:
    • Build, maintain and enhance CI/CD pipelines.
    • Create and manage deployment groups.
    • Azure resource analysis (cost checks).
    • Maintain and monitor SignalR.
    • Security
      • Implement static code analysis in CI/CD pipelines.
      • Assist the development team with implementing and maintaining secret management.
      • Implement and maintain dependency checks in CI/CD pipelines.
    • Environments and deployments:
      • Assist development teams with environments setup, such as creating websites on IIS, etc.
      • Install and maintain Windows Services created by the development teams.
      • Assist teams with production deployments as needed.
      • Continuously work on improving the deployment process.
    • DevSecOps:
      • Assist with penetration testing requirements.
      • Collaborate with Operations on network and infrastructure security.
      • Collaborate with security advisors to maintain robust security measures for the infrastructure and applications.
    • Cloudflare management, including (but not limited to):
      • Caching
      • WAF
      • Worker applications and routes
      • Monitoring
    • Collaborate with Operations to implement infrastructure monitoring and to advise on infrastructure requirements.
    • Collaborate with Operations, Development and SRE to ensure that our applications are scalable, reliable, and stable.
