Work Policy: Office based. (Normal Monday to Friday)

Role Purpose:

The Junior Network Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the company’s network infrastructure. This role involves configuring and troubleshooting network devices, monitoring network performance, and providing technical support to end-users. The Junior Network Administrator collaborates closely with the Senior Network Administrator to ensure the smooth functioning of the network and timely resolution of issues.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Matric
  • Diploma / Certificate/ Degree in Information Technology or similar
  • Microsoft / CompTIA certifications
  • Microsoft Server Platform experience (2012/2016/2019)
  • Desktop Support
  • Knowledge Of Microsoft Technologies, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS
  • A+/N+ and / or MCITP or similar

Minimum Experience

  • Preferably experience of 5 years or more in similar environment (Technical support/Helpdesk)
  • Experience in cloud technologies advantageous
  • Previous experience in a technical desktop support role would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of best practices around management, control, and monitoring of desktop/server infrastructure
  • Installation, configuration, and maintenance of end user workstation hardware, software, and peripheral devices
  • Ability to Diagnose and resolve performance, connectivity and related network problems including hardware, software.
  • Software Experience
  • Knowledge of Network Infrastructures

Technical Support

  • Configure and Maintain Devices (Switches/Routers/Firewalls/Access points/New user Equipment and ensure optimal network performance and security.
  • Diagnose Network connectivity problems and network related incidents and provide resolutions.
  • Assist in the implementation of network upgrades/Expansions/Migrations under the guidance of the supervisor.
  • Provide Tier1 Technical support to office end-users with network connectivity/vpn access.
  • Manage the Internal Ticketing system and attend to incidents when they come in with the applicable SLA.
  • Document network configuration change/procedures also prescribed installation procedures and guidelines.
  • Aid the installation/support team as required.
  • Identify and troubleshoot any defective devices, either on-site or through remote access.
  • Utilize appropriate diagnostic tools and methodologies to resolve issues promptly.
  • Evaluate and modify system’s performance.
  • Determine network and system requirements.
  • Improve on Installation deployment process and provide suggestions

Technical Support

  • Collaborate with systems/network supervisor and vendors to resolve complex network related issues.
  • Update records promptly with relevant information, including device specifications and locations.
  • Ability to work in as part of the greater organisational team but also work independently, as well as work with clients.
  • Maintain and manage positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Effectively communicate at all management levels with clients/ stakeholders.
  • Make recommendations to improve client service and fair treatment of clients within area of responsibility.
  • The Systems Network Administrator role focuses on day-to-day operations and technical support.
